In this article, I’ll show you How to Upload and Send Bank to Novation Synths using the Novation Peak as an example. The process is identical for other Novation instruments like the Summit, Bass Station II, or Circuit series — since they all use the Novation Components librarian. This way, you can easily manage, back up, and load your favorite sound banks across the entire Novation range.
Why Upload and Send Banks to the Novation Synths?
Managing sound banks on the Novation Synths allows you to:
- Organize your custom patches efficiently
- Back up your favorite presets for future use
- Load third-party soundsets and expand your sonic palette
- Share your own creations with other producers
What You’ll Need
Before getting started, make sure you have:
- Novation Synth (hardware synthesizer)
- USB cable to connect hardware synth to your computer
- Novation Components (web-based librarian and editor) → https://components.novationmusic.com/
- A sound bank file (syx format, or factory/user banks you want to transfer)
Step-by-Step: How to Upload and Send Bank to Novation Synths
Connect Your Synth via USB
Plug your synth into your computer using a standard USB cable. Make sure it’s powered on.
Open Novation Components
Go to Novation Components in your web browser (Chrome recommended). You can also use the standalone app if you prefer.
Select Your Device
Once Components detects your synth, select it from the list of available devices.
Access the Librarian
Open the Librarian tab. This is where you can view, manage, and organize your existing patches and banks.
Upload Your Bank
Drag and drop the .syx bank file into Components.
Or click Import and choose the bank file from your computer.
Send Bank to Synth
Once imported, choose Send to Synth. The transfer will begin, and within a few moments, your entire bank will be available on the synth.
Save on Synth
Don’t forget to save the bank to one of the user memory slots on the synth to avoid overwriting when restarting.

Tips for Smooth Transfers
- Always double-check you’re sending to the correct memory slot — overwriting is permanent.
- Keep a backup of your favorite presets by exporting them from Components before loading new ones.
- USB is the simplest connection method, but you can also use MIDI DIN + SysEx Librarians if needed.
