Oberheim TEO-5 & Sequential Take 5 – Now Available in Desktop Versions ️

Last Updated on May 27, 2026 by Mr. Card

Great news for synth enthusiasts and studio-conscious producers: Oberheim TEO-5 and Sequential Take 5 are now available in module (desktop) versions!

These compact editions deliver the same powerful sound engines and hands-on control as their keyboard counterparts but in a smaller, space-saving format. Perfect for producers working with limited studio space or those who already use a master keyboard, these desktop versions offer all the tone and flexibility without the bulk of a full keybed.

Oberheim and Sequential Under One Roof

It’s worth noting that Oberheim and Sequential are now part of the same family, both owned by the Focusrite Group. This partnership has allowed these legendary brands to continue developing instruments that honor their iconic heritage while integrating modern design and production standards.

As a result, we’re seeing products like the TEO-5 and Take 5 that carry forward the sonic DNA of their classic predecessors, but with the reliability and accessibility of today’s technology.

Same Sound – Now Without the Keys

The desktop versions of these two powerful synthesizers retain the exact same sound engines and internal architecture as their keyboard counterparts.

No compromise in sound quality
Same controls and front-panel layout
MIDI and USB connectivity included
Full preset memory support, identical to the keyboard versions
Easier integration into tight setups or keyboard-controlled rigs

These modules give you all the sonic flexibility of their full-sized siblings while saving space and reducing cost.

My Experience with Take 5 (and Why I’m Excited for TEO-5)

I haven’t tested the TEO-5 yet, but I did have the Sequential Take 5 in my studio for a short time, and I was really impressed by it. I even recorded a few demo videos, like this one:

The Take 5 is a fantastic synth with a truly powerful sound, and you can hear exactly what I mean in these demos. Based on that experience, I’m very excited to see what the TEO-5 can deliver in its desktop form.

Lower Price Than Keyboard Versions

Another big advantage of the new desktop versions of the Oberheim TEO-5 and Sequential Take 5 is their lower price compared to the keyboard models. While they deliver the exact same sound engine and features, the omission of the keybed makes them more affordable and perfect for musicians who already use a master keyboard in their setup.

This makes them a great option for both space-conscious studios and budget-conscious producers who still want the full power of these instruments.

Oberheim TEO-5 Desktop Module

The TEO-5 is a gorgeous-sounding synth, blending analog VCOs with digital effects and vintage-inspired features. Now in a compact desktop format, it’s perfect for producers who want Oberheim’s lush sound without sacrificing precious studio space.

Sequential Take 5 Desktop Module

The Take 5 is one of the most versatile modern analog polysynths on the market, with a warm tone, flexible modulation, and a very accessible price. Its module version brings all that to your desk—no keys, same power.

Why I’m Excited About Oberheim TEO-5 and Sequential Take 5

In the near future, I definitely plan to test both of these desktop synths myself. With the layout of my current studio and limited desk space, I much prefer desktop or module versions of synths. They let me keep everything within arm’s reach, easily controlled by a single master keyboard or sequencer.

Stay tuned for hands-on reviews and sound demos once I get them on my desk!
